Pantone Fall Colors

Right now I'm working with a client that's getting married in October in SF. They're getting married in a park setting, so it'll be very green and full of natural life. I've put together a small inspiration board based on what they're thinking/wanting for decor/colors. I used Pantone's Fall Color Swatch for inspiration (and the possible teal bridesmaids dresses). I don't think that just because it's fall you have to use dark colors - use darker shades of pretty colors (i.e. orange, green, red) and stay away from pastels and "springy" colors. However, a fall wedding doesn't need to look like Halloween!

Thrift Store finds

Today I was running my normal monthly errands (Costco, the feed store), and thought I'd pop into my favorite thrift store here in Vallejo. On seemingly random days they have 50% off sales, so it's always worth a shot to stop if I'm on that side of town. Today was 30% off which is pretty good. I found some pretty cute things that can totally be used for styling a wedding (for about $10!):

(motorola radio with khaki leather case, 2 gold-ish mini goblets, Brideshead Revisited, and A Child's History of California) - okay, the air plant is mine!

Now I've found a lot of great things at this particular store (so has my friend Allison, who recently purchased a dozen silver goblets for me for $15!) We actually did a photo shoot a few weeks ago, which showcased a lot of stuff we've collected from thrift stores. I'll be posting it soon, but in the meantime - what's the coolest thing you've gotten from a thrift store?

Chalk vases from Target

A few days ago, I snagged this adorable vase from Target:

Threshold for Target - taken with my iphone :)
This one was the smallest of the bunch (about 4 inches high), but they had a few larger sizes (and colors) to choose from. The black part is actually chalkboard, so you can write on them as well. Couldn't you see these on a table, holding wildflowers - and doubling as table names or numbers? Unfortunately I looked everywhere on the Target website, but they aren't listed. I guess you have to buy them in the store. They do however, sell these canisters which are similar:

Cute idea, eh?

Salt Dough Ornaments for Weddings

If you are a friend of mine on Facebook or Instagram, you'll know that I've been playing around with salt dough recipes to make ornaments for holiday gifts. As I was perusing the interwebs for recipes, I found tons of photos showcasing the ways in which couples have DIYed salt dough ornaments and used them as wedding favors. I think this is brilliant (and cheap!) Here are some of the best ones I found...

Xenia and Lance

The vows
Last weekend I had the pleasure of coordinating Xenia and Lance's wedding, held at the Old Homestead in Crockett. The Old Homestead is this great old house right across the street from the C& H Factory in Crockett, with a huge grass yard and a beautiful deck under the redwoods. It's also right near the train tracks
which allowed for some amazing shots (John + Louise did a fantastic job! - check out their preview here!)

Lance and Xenia are so mellow (and organized!), and I had a great time working with the both of them. Xenia spent a lot of time making the decor, and was able to use a lot of her mom's antique furnishings which made it very unique.

my favorite - the cake table!
Congrats again, Xenia and Lance!

Backdrops

A backdrop is a great way to add some color and fun to any plain old cermony. Here are a few that I've been dying to recreate! Which one is your favorite?
